L-Isoleucine is a branched-chain essential amino acid, chemically (2S,3S)-2-amino-3-methylpentanoic acid (CAS 73-32-5), with molecular formula C6H13NO2 and a molecular weight of 131.17. It is fermentation-derived and supplied as a free-form crystalline powder standardized to a typical assay of >=98.5% (USP/EP/FCC). Although it shares the same molecular formula and molecular weight as L-leucine, it is a distinct constitutional isomer that carries two stereocenters (2S,3S) versus leucine's one, and it differs from L-valine by one methylene unit. Unlike the fixed-ratio 2:1:1, 4:1:1 and 8:1:1 blends, it is a single defined amino acid supplied with its own CAS number and formula. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
