Le pyrophosphate ferreux est le sel de fer divalent de l'acide pyrophosphorique, le pyrophosphate de fer(II) (CAS 16037-88-0; Fe2P2O7, MW 285.63), apportant environ 39% de fer élémentaire. Il est insoluble dans l'eau, ce qui en fait un agent d'enrichissement à couleur stable, souvent micronisé ou encapsulé pour faciliter la dispersion, et il se distingue par son degré d'oxydation du pyrophosphate ferrique trivalent déjà présent dans la gamme. C'est une poudre grise à vert-gris transformée en poudres, gélules, comprimés et dispersions liquides.
